Wands for Wildlife Wows! VA Campaign Success
Wands for Wildlife — It sounds funny. Save your mascara wands? Yes! Save them! And give them to Vet Assistance to save the lives of our fur and feathered friends!
How could someone possibly reuse these items to help animals? Once a tube of mascara is no longer being used, Vet Assistants wash the wands in warm soapy water to remove any trace of mascara. Then, the wands are used to remove fly eggs and larva from the fur of wild animals aiding them on their road to recovery. The wands work well because of the formation of the bristles; they are close together.
Kaelyn Blakely and Jade Canterbury spearheaded this project to collect the wands. This year, VA collected a total of 50 wands; next year, they hope to double this number.
