Zach Graduates from Basic Training Tomorrow!
Though he was unable to even vote before his training began, Zach Marski raised his hand and swore to:
support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the president of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me…
…and tomorrow, he’ll graduate from basic training as an e-2 in the Army Reserve.
As a junior in high school, Marski entered the The Split Training Option in the Army Reserves, a program which sets up soldiers for future success in the service. “It was an easy decision for me to serve my country; it’s something I have wanted to do ever since I was a kid. My greatest inspiration to join was my grandfather who also served. I’m proud of him, and now, he can really be proud of me!”
All summer long, Zach has been busy being told what to do, when to do it, how to do it by the sergeants who specialize as “motivators,” ensuring that these future soldiers can handle the stressors that may come along with the job. As a result, tomorrow, Zach will be proud to say, “I successfully finished my basic training.” Over the course of his senior year, Zach will continue to train to maintain his physical stamina, and when he graduates, he’ll continue with his specialized training.
During graduation ceremonies tomorrow, Zach will find out just what that training involves; we look forward to hearing of Zach’s future success, and we wish him safe-service in the years to come.
Congratulations Zach Marski, LCCTC Welding senior, Class of 2021.
