Like a Well-Oiled Machine: Auto Tech Problem Solves

Auto Technology students were elbows-deep, working like a well-oiled machine, on a scenario that their teacher, Mr. John Goebel, had set for them.

Kamara Douglas, junior notes, “I love how hands-on we are as we learn at LCCTC. In both our academic and especially our shop classes, we don’t learn by ‘paper and pencil’ or computer and video alone.” She shares that her teachers make her learning interactive, engaging the students in whatever lesson they learn.

Sent to work after theory had commenced, this team of budding mechanics soon found the fault: dark-colored transmission fluid. “With a little searching, and a heavy dose of teamwork, we found the trouble. The fluid should be pink.”

Their lesson didn’t stop there; the got to work flushing the line, letting it run, and removing the smudge. “With the new transmission fluid, It’s all clean and as good as new!” she said with a smile.

…and with the end of that lesson, it was on to the next. Eager to learn more, the Auto Tech students were ready problem-solve their next task.
