LCCTC Earns 27 D10 Medals

Friday, January 21st, friends and family joined LCCTC’s student body to celebrate SkillsUSA’s competitors.

Live-streamed, the assembly was accessible to eager family and friends of SkillsUSA members at home. It began with a few videos that informed about what SkillsUSA is all about, that shared support from Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs, and that offered a peek at the quality level of the skills competitions. To demonstrate the leadership competitions, the Opening and Closing team demonstrated their competition to the parents, friends, student body, and staff who were able to attend. Their presentation, which emphasizes public speaking and team-leadership skills, described the components of the SkillsUSA emblem: patriotism, the industrial society, knowledge, technology, and the individual.

And then it was time to recognize the competitors and medalists who each stepped outside of their comfort zone to show off their skills among the best of the best from 11 other vocational schools in the western PA area.
