Career-Ready and College-Bound

At LCCTC our graduates are career-ready and college-bound.

Students in Mr. DeRosa’s Commercial Arts shop recently visited the Art Department at Slippery Rock University to learn about more advanced careers in the art industry like Art Therapy and Graphic Design as well as explore the many opportunities the department provides for young artists. After a brief introduction by Professors Sean Macmillan and Barbara Westman, students explored the 8 studios the department offers as well as the two art galleries housed on campus and finished with a general tour of the rest of campus.

Reflecting on the experience, Commercial Art junior from Shenango, Tommilynn Genareo, said “I had a wonderful time exploring the SRU Art buildings and campus. It was interesting to see all of the different art studios they offer. It was a little overwhelming having so many opportunities but I thought the people there were really nice, and I think it’s definitely a wonderful option for me to think about.”

Mr. DeRosa added, “It’s important that students are prepared for a variety of employment options after graduation. The interdisciplinary studies at LCCTC provide students with the knowledge and skills to not only dive right into the workforce but also pursue more academically-driven careers, as well.”

“The bottom line,” DeRosa continues, “the more experiences our students are provided with the better prepared they are for whatever life has in store for them. Offering many field trips and off-site work experiences is just one of many ways our programs achieve that goal.”
