VA Raises Funds for Stick Up for the Paws!
by the Eagle Staff
As the fur settles, and Veterinary Assistant Grooming Days can be called a great success! As the fund-raising service project to benefit Stick Up For Paws comes to an end, Mrs. Yanak and the students from the VA shop would like to thank the staff and students of LCCTC and the members of the Lawrence County community for their help and support throughout the process.
All throughout March (and a smidge into April), members of the community were able to make an appointment to bring their furry loved ones into the school for a bath and toenail trim for only $5. The New Castle Police Department and LCCTC social media accounts advertised the fundraiser; that, and word of mouth made this endeavor an incredible success!
In all, the Vet Assistant crew was able to care for over 100 fur babies; between VA Grooming Days and a generous donation, contributions to the New Castle Police K9 Unit reached $600!
We are incredibly proud of the work our VA students do. They have now applied their knowledge and skills of safety, sanitation, and customer service with their understanding of animal handling, basic biology, and grooming to get the job done and done well. These “can-do” skills help make our students highly employable! Congratulations, Veterinary Assistance!
