CA Utilizes Flora & Fauna to Create

Though winter flakes have graced the ground, we pause for a moment and return to October where our Commercial Art students proved they don't need much to make aesthetically pleasing works of art.

Armed with only the materials they found about the LCCTC campus students were assigned to creating "Land Art Earth Sculptures" that represented the elements and principles of design.

After spending the morning critiquing the works of world renown Earth Artist Andy Goldworthy, students then tried their hand at creating compositions using only found organic materials on site. A few strong gusts of wind caused several to have to restart but in the true spirit of our Commercial Art program the students rose above the environmental challenges and succeeded in making temporary art installations for our community to enjoy.

The day concluded with group critiques of each work as well as some "Plein Air" drawing in their sketchbooks.
