Health Assistant Expands Program to Offer EMT Certification
Today was the Lawrence County CTC’s EMT program’s first-ever day of ride time/clinical experience with NOGA Ambulance. To say the least, the students had a wonderful experience and many more to come. When you are able to apply classroom learning into real-life workforce experience it truly allows for learning to be at its highest!
This is the first year the Health Assistant Program has offered this additional EMT Certification program within the Health Industry to its seniors. In order to offer the EMT Course at LCCTC, the shop needed to pass an audit to become a training institute. This first course is offered as an elective to 3rd-year seniors. All Health Assistant students must pass their Certified Nurse Aid exams before entering the EMT program. There are also very strict attendance policies and rules of conduct in order to participate in the program.
The HA EMT Program is not a mandatory course. If a senior passes their CNA and wishes to go on co-op, that opportunity is still an option; however, with this course, it is exciting that additional opportunities are now available to our HA students.
