Caught 'Ya Doing Good: SWPBS Principal's 200 Club

"It's good to see you today!"

"You have your homework?  Good.  Let's get started..."

"Thank you; that was so kind."

"It's a good thing you were there to help."

These are just a few of the things you'll hear so many of our teachers say every day -- not just in the classroom but in the hallways, as well."

Why?  "Because here at LCCTC, we are HERE, we are READY, we are RESPECTFUL, and we are SAFE."  By now, even our sophomores can say this because we hear it every afternoon on the announcements, we see it on posters throughout the school, and we are reminded of it in the way we conduct ourselves every day -- no matter where we are.

School Wide Positive Behavior (SWPB) is a school of thought that LCCTC students and staff have adopted, and it makes our little place on the planet a pretty nice to be.

Why would we want to do this?  Well -- there is a lot of good in being GOOD!

One of the many benefits of this program is that each day, students are recognized for exhibiting any one or more of the four tenets of the program: to be HERE, be READY, be RESPECTFUL, and be SAFE.

At the end of each day, students with tickets are called down, and their names are put on a SWPB board for the entire school to see.  Once a row of 10 students accumulates, SWPBS members have the pleasure of distributing Caiazza Bucks, which can be used to purchase a special treat for lunch from the cafeteria, to those 10 winners -- all for simply making great choices.

A special grand prize drawing is made from the row of 10, with a coupon for a free SWPB incentive trip given as a prize!

Jay Leddon has received a few tickets of his own, but as a member of the SWPBS team, he gets to see the benefits first-hand, “It’s a great way for all students to see that good choices can pay off,” he shares, “and it reminds us to always be our best selves.”

SWPBS member Lily Heaney has also received her share of SWPBS tickets. “My favorite part is passing out the Caiazza Bucks. I get to see, firsthand, that kids realize that it does pay to do the right things.”

See?  There IS a benefit to making good choices — for our LCCTC community, and for our SWPBS members!
