CA's Art Mart Wins PSEA Grant
Sometimes, mailboxes bring junk mail or even worse — a bill. However, recently, LCCTC’s Commercial Art teacher found a letter that, in his words “was very happy to open.”
“In January I wrote a grant to the PSEA Council on Instruction and Professional Development,” DeRosa said. “Each year the PSEA Board of Directors selects four instructors in the state to receive the annual grant for innovations in teaching.”
Grants can be both exciting and frustrating. They take a lot of time to write and careful consideration to ensure that stipulations are followed. Quite often, they are kindly denied for all sorts of reasons and that’s that.
Preparing for a frequent polite rejection letter, instead, the letter read, “We are proud to officially announce that your Commercial and Advertising Art program was selected to receive the grant.”
Success!
As a result, our student-run market, "The Art Mart," will receive $1,500 in funding from the PSEA Council on Instruction and Professional Development for consumable supplies. This month, Mr. DeRosa will have the honor of accepting the award at the annual PSEA House of Delegates!
LCCTC’s Director, Mr. Rich states, “Mr. DeRosa is in an elite company and the only CTE teacher to win this award this year. Job well done!”
Mr. DeRosa is ecstatic. “Six years ago we discussed a plan to put our CA program on the map. I am very proud to say we have done so.”
DeRosa continues, “Thank you to everyone who has supported the program's growth along the way, I look forward to seeing what the future holds.”
Congratulations Mr. DeRosa and the students who have worked so hard to make The Art Mart a success!
