SkillsUSA Plants Flags with the Agent Orange Veterans Project
Lawrence County CTC's Chapter of SkillsUSA and students and employees of Lawrence County CTC joined together at Oak Park Cemetary to honor our Veterans. With each flag planted, they thanked the veteran by name. Some gravesites date back to the Civil War. Some had served in both WWI and WWII! Some family plots had multiple family members who served our country.
Lyn McVicker-Shaffer (teacher & SkillsUSA assistant advisor), Hugh Coryea (LCCTC graduate, LCCTC staff member, and Veterans and Agent Orange Project), Lynnden Cummins (Management Information Systems), Vince Pavia (Health Assistant instructor and SkillsUSA assistant advisor), Aaliyah Kinney (Electrical Occupations senior and SkillsUSA member), and Lamar Hines (Electrical Occupations junior) gathered and replaced tattered flags and changed out broken placards and flags for new ones. They were humbled by the many who had served our nation and our community in the service.
Thank you, Hugh Coryea and the Agent Orange Veterans Project for inviting us to help. We look forward to lending a hand with this day of service in an even bigger way next year!
