Third Time's a Charm: Devin Dilling is Recognized as State Gold Medalist
Representative Chris Sainato took some time from his busy day to personally recognize Welding senior Devin Dilling for her achievements at the SkillsUSA State Championships. This is Devin’s third year in SkillsUSA — last year, earning a bronze medal, and this year, bringing home state gold!
During competition, judges evaluate each contestant’s preparation for employment in the field of welding or metal trades. Devin’s contest consists of three parts: 1. Evaluation of the sculpture 2. Notebook and 3. Interview. The contest is designed to assess the ability of the competitor to design and produce a sculpture of that design, as well as answer questions in a brief interview related to all aspects of his or her creation of the design.
We’d like to thank Representative Sainato for presenting the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Legislative Citation to our medalists and for his words of encouragement and wishes of good luck to Devin and the other eight SkillsUSA students from LCCTC as they travel to Louisville Kentucky for national competition in June.
