HA Sophomores Take the Initiative

In spite of the many Covid-related setbacks that delayed in-class instruction, the Health Assistant program has continued to achieve excellence within their shop and continue to make LCCTC proud. To date, seven HA students have earned their Direct Care Staff Certification through the PA Dept. of Human Services!

The Direct Care Staff Certification is a prerequisite for the Health Assistant students to move onto the second level and take their CNA in their second year. This certification allows for entry level positions in healthcare to work either within a residents home as a personal care assistant or in a personal care home, assisting a resident with minimal activities of daily living. For the CNA training, it is more focused in dealing with disease processes and patients who require more higher levels of care.

To be eligible to test in this first group, each HA student had to have perfect attendance while the course was being offered, and complete the accompanied study guide in order to be eligible to test.

Mr. Vince Pavia, HA instructor states, “In a time where COVID has allowed many accommodations to not get things done, I felt happy to see these students be able to sit down and have an earned award for their work!!”

“We celebrate their success in each step they take toward meeting their goals,” adds HA instructor, Mrs. Valerie O’Donnell.

Please join us today in congratulating these students who took the initiative to get all of their required tasks completed:
