Turkey Boxes: Wishing LCCTC Families a Happy Holiday!

Ahh, it’s that time of the year again when people within the community and all across our nation get ready for Thanksgiving, but here at LCCTC, the Peer Leadership group is busy packing Turkey Boxes for needy families. Over the course of five years, Peer Leadership has gifted over 200 boxes and, this year in 2022, they plan on gifting 50 more. That’s a crazy number of boxes gifted from generous donors!

On a daily basis, this group works hard not only for the community but also for LCCTC, as well. This particular campaign, Turkey Boxes, benefits the members of our LCCTC family, providing a full Thanksgiving meal for entire families.

What’s inside? Inside, families will find 1 turkey, 1 box of potato flakes, 1 package of dinner rolls, 2 cans of corn, 2 cans of green beans, 1 box of stuffing, 2 packets of gravy, and 1 pie generously made and donated by our RT shop.

Whose Idea was it to start this tradition?

Mrs. Pasterik, Peer Leader co-advisor states, “This started in 2016 by a student who mentioned it to a peer leader, and the idea sort of grew from there!”

“We saw a need within our student body,” Pasterik continues, “and wanted to provide a blessing to our community.”

Donations come from multiple generous donors: Peer Leadership and the LCCTC community would like to thank DBA Homak Manufacturing, UB Trucking, New Castle Rotatory #89, Nick Neupauer and the Neupauer family, and multiple staff members including RT who makes and donates pies.

Clarysa Grimes, Health Assistant senior and an active member of Peer Leadership shares why she shares her time and energy to this campaign as she states, “I know how hard it can be for families to get food for any holiday. I also know how much it means to people in need for this so they can celebrate with loved ones.”

This year, families will be able to pick up their gifted turkey boxes at the school on Monday, November 21st.

“It makes me so happy to help others,” states Madison Werner, Health Assistant junior, “and to bring families together.  It puts a smile on the faces of others, but even more so — it makes me smile!  I feel honored to be able to take part in this campaign.”

Anyone can make donations to future Turkey Boxes or other campaigns. Checks can be made payable to
