Business and Industry Fair

Story and Photography by Austin Paukner, Health Assistant senior (New Castle)

Recently, the Sophomore Class of 2025 hopped on a bus and headed to the Scottish Rite Cathedral in New Castle for a Business Fair. Attendance at this fair gives sophomores a chance to find interesting jobs or to introduce them to a career they might like after they graduate.

The Business fair included companies post-secondary schools that included:

  • WesBanco

  • Consolidated Glass

  • Ellwood City Forge

  • Laurel Technical Institute

  • BC3

  • UPMC Horizon

  • Pennsylvania State Police

  • Slippery Rock University

Representatives from these businesses and colleges took time out of their busy schedules to talk to the sophomores of LCCTC and hundreds of other sophomores from around the county about what each does and how they work within the community and beyond.

For example, Ellwood City Forge has been a leader in the metal-making industry providing good-paying jobs for hard-working people for over 100 years.

Another example is Pennsylvania State Police. They not only ensure that laws are kept, they also risk their lives to protect and serve the people of our state.

This is a great way for all students – LCCTC students, especially – to explore the different careers and educational options that exist – especially those within Lawrence County.
