"The Weight of His Words": Meet Mr. Ryan
by Hailey Lee, Health Assistant Class of 2026
“The weight of your words is more important
than the volume of your voice.”

This year the LCCTC is privileged to have a wonderful, new English teacher. Over the years of being his student, I’ve grown to realize how valuable his knowledge and wisdom are. I’m proud to not only write about his achievements as a teacher but also his accomplishments outside of the classroom. In this essay, I will explore his journey, accomplishments, and lessons I’ve learned from him over the years.
Mr. Ryan is a remarkable individual who has already accomplished so much in his life. He was always interested in creative writing and story-telling. Resolving to meet his goal, after month after month of writing and rewriting and revising and editing, and after a few publisher’s letters of rejection, he became a published author in 2010. Upon reading his work, one can appreciate the depth and complexity of his writing. He has a unique ability to convey his thoughts and ideas clearly and concisely, thrilling his audience with every turn of a phrase. This skill, combined with his experience and expertise, has made him a sought-after individual in the literary world.
Mr. Ryan's journey to success has not been easy. He graduated from Westminster College and Youngstown State University, where he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in English, respectively. He has also received a host of other certifications and accolades. His dedication to his education has played a significant role in his success.
In addition to his academic achievements – publishing eight novels and two short stories, Mr. Ryan claims three state records and can claim a world record in bench pressing. His hard work and perseverance have led him to accomplish feats that many consider impossible, specifically 525.7 pounds bench pressing. This feat is a testament to his discipline, determination, and dedication to physical fitness – all while maintaining a focus on his college studies.
Mr. Ryan's accomplishments have not only inspired me; they have also taught me valuable lessons. He has imparted the importance of setting and pursuing goals, the value of education, and the necessity of physical fitness. His teachings have left a lasting impact on me and have helped me develop into a better person.
In conclusion, Mr. Ryan is an exceptional human being whose journey has inspired me. His accomplishments have made me realize that every worthy goal is possible. His advice and teachings have helped me become a better person both academically and physically. He inspired me to get back into the gym which is helping me greatly with Track and Field. Mr. Ryan’s passion for writing is the exact reason I am here right now and having fun with my writing. He inspires me to be a better writer giving me the best advice any student could ask for. He always tells us to be open-minded, passionate, imaginative, and curious about learning new things. He consistently reminds his students to stick to what they love. Mr. Ryan makes his classroom an engaging environment that makes me want to participate.
I am grateful to have Mr. Ryan as my teacher and look forward to learning more from him in the future.
