LCCTC Conservation Club Celebrates Earth Day 2025

by Mr. Ryan Nych, LCCTC CC Advisor

The LCCTC Conservation Club (LCCTC CC) has teamed up with the Pennsylvania Game Commision (PAGC), Wildlife for Everyone Foundation, and Howard Nursery for the Seedlings for Schools Program. LCCTC CC has participated in Seedlings for Schools since 2019 providing seedlings for Lawrence County students.

This year, Junior Advisers known as “the Nicks” (Wilson and Vidovich) formed a team with members Keiara Toy, Gavin Uiselt, Brody Boyer, Vincent Schiraldi, Gabe Hatridge, and Chris Carbone to prepare over 425 seedlings to go to the CTC students and faculty. Students were given an option of five types of trees - Red Oak, Silky Dogwood, Ninebark, Norway Spruce, and White Spruce.

LCCTC CC members are proud of the involvement and excitement students have shown in planting their own tree. These trees, aside from providing clean air and water, are great erosion controls and provide homes, shelter, and food sources for local wildlife. LCCTC CC Adviser Mr. Nych praises the program, “The generosity of this program to send so many Pennsylvanian students trees is amazing, and I am very grateful to the PAGC, Wildlife for Everyone, and Howard Nursery. I am glad I can be a part of spreading stewardship and promoting husbandry to our students in the Lawrence County area.”  Adviser Mr. Restino says of the Seedlings for Schools Program, “I think it is great that all of our students have a chance to play a role in active conservation efforts. This is just a small part of our best year yet!”

The LCCTC CC is looking forward to spreading its own roots and being a much larger part of the CTC with other projects in the upcoming years.
